Collection of traditional attire from Dubrovačko primorje and the Elaphite islands

Collection manager:
Barbara Margaretić, senior curator
e-mail: barbara.margaretic@dumus.hr

The collection is predominantly made up of items of clothing for men and women, samples of the weaving of the best-known weaving centre in the Dubrovnik region – Lopud island, as well as footwear, bags and jewellery.

The most valuable and finest parts of the collection were purchased in the 1930s. Among them, attention is certain to be drawn to a set of women's apparel for festive occasions – laneta, and a bridal set from the village of Ošlje. These two sets were worn in the middle and at the end of the 19th century and are today a part of the permanent display of the museum. Also presented in the display are earrings and brooches characteristic of the area of Dubrovačko Primorje.
