Collection of Ship’s Equipment

Collection manager:
Ana Kaznačić Skurić, senior curator
e-mail: ana.kaznacic@dumus.hr

The collection consists of two hundred and twenty four objects that during the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries were used in Dubrovnik sailing and steam ships. Ship’s equipment is an integral part of the material of a ship, whether it was specially incorporated, or whether it was part of the deck equipment.

In the permanent display some of the objects are on show, among which the following are particularly interesting: ship’s bell, blocks and pulleys, wheel, lifebelts, companionways, cannon, cannonballs, lanterns, swords, duelling pistols, sailors’ palms, anchors and other things.
