Preparation workshop for wood
The preparation workshop for wood of Dubrovnik Museums started work in 1980. It is located in Ulica Miha Pracata in Dubrovnik and is equipped for the expert performance of conservation and restoration operations on wooden objects from the museum collections of the Cultural History, the Ethnographic and the Maritime museums.
The most extensive restoration operation in this workshop was carried out in 2010-2011, to the doorframe of the Rector’s Palace. All layers of oil paint were removed, the damage to the wood made good, and parts of the carving were reconstructed. The restoration work was finished with filling, retouching, staining and varnishing.
